Egdon was formed in 1997 by founding Directors Andrew Hindle and Mark Abbott. The Company was awarded its first licence in the 8th Onshore Licensing Round in 1998 and became an operator in 2000, the same year that the company moved onto the OFEX market. In 2004 Egdon listed on AIM. In January 2008 Egdon demerged its gas storage business, Portland Gas, later to become Infrastrata , and again became a focused exploration and production business.
Objectives
The aim of the company is to add shareholder value by becoming a profitable and material full cycle exploration and production business, with a focus on onshore UK and mainland European operations.
Strategy
Egdon, had, by the end, of 2009 through a process of purchases, licensing rounds farm-ins and farms outs assembled interests in 24 licences primarily onshore the UK and France. These included assets in the Wessex Basin, the Weald Basin in southern England, Northern England including the Cleveland Basin, the Midlands and onshore France.
During 2010 the total number interests was expected to grow as Egdon proceeded to buy certain UK and French assets from EnCore Oil. The assets to be acquired putatively involved EnCore’s entire interest in 10 onshore UK licences, two onshore French licences and in the Ceres Gas Field in The UKCS.
