Company Statement

AIM quoted Nighthawk Energy plc (ticker HAWK) is a dynamic UK registered energy company with a focus on building cash flow from producing hydrocarbon assets in the USA, a country with low political risk and a major shortfall in domestic gas production.

Nighthawk’s core asset is a 50 per cent. working interest in the Cisco Springs natural gas production and development project located in Grand County, Utah.

In addition the Company has significant interests in several projects which include the Devon Oilfield, Kansas, Centurion, Kansas, Jolly Ranch, Colorado, Cliffs, Illinois and the Buchanan and Worden, Missouri.

Operations and Technology

Nighthawk Energy joined AIM in March 2007, with an IPO of 40 million shares priced at 25 pence each. At the time of the IPO, the company had a 37.5 per cent interest in the Cisco Springs gas project in Utah and a dribble of production. Within 12 months the company had upped its interest in Cisco Springs to 50 per cent, where production was running at in December 2007 production was running at 1-1.5 million cubic feet per day, and had amassed a portfolio of eight projects in the US Mid-West. The AIM company takes on these projects in partnership with US firm Running Foxes Petroleum.

Cisco Springs remains the most advanced project. This was a stranded gas project that saw hundreds of wells drilled over the last 50 years, most of which were abandoned as the drillers then sought oil, not difficult-to-market gas. But today gas is the in-demand fuel and the construction of a pipeline in 1999 opened up the neglected gas deposits to the energy hungry markets of the US west coast.

The partners are now half-way through a 60 well drilling campaign on the project, which is yielding real successes. New production facilities and a pipeline tap have been commissioned to handle the increased production, which is expected to reach 3 to 4 million cf/d by the end of 2008.

The 140,000-acre Jolly Ranch project in Colorado is also making good progress (Nighthawk has a 50 per cent interest). Jolly Ranch is home to multiple stacked targets that could hold more than 100 million barrels of oil. The acreage is known to be productive as it is home to the shut-in Bolero and Craig Ranch oilfields, which were abandoned by previous operators BHP and Anshultz during the oil price slump of the 1990s. Initial drilling has been promising, encouraging the partners to expand their drilling plans. In May 2008 the partners acquired an additional 61,500 acres immediately to the north of Jolly Ranch. This new package of land is called the Middle Mist project and is expected to be a Jolly Ranch look-alike.

In March 2007 the company completed the US$450,000 acquisition of an 80 per cent working interest in the Devon oilfield in Kansas. Running Foxes Petroleum is the operator with a 20 per cent working interest. The project lies in the Cherokee Basin, a prolific shallow oil and gas region, where the partners are targeting an oil-saturated Bartlesville channel sandstone. The first appraisal wells have been cased as future producers and a water injection programme will get underway in 2008 to flush out these very shallow oil deposits. Initial drilling is also underway on the Buchanan and Worden projects in Missouri, which is targeting the same Bartlesville sandstone reservoirs as the Devon oilfield project. Test wells drilled in 2008 have been very successful, encouraging the company to acquire further land and plan for first oil production in Q3 2008.

The company also holds 80 per cent of the Cliffs Shale project in Illinois and has interests in a number of oil services businesses to support its work in the US.
