Northern Petroleum Brings Second Gas Field Onstream In The Netherlands



Northern Petroleum has taken another step forward with its production ambitions in The Netherlands with news that the Geesbrug gas field is now onstream. This is the second of six discoveries – four gas and two oil - being developed by the AIM company in The Netherlands, following on from last month’s start-up of the Grolloo gas field. Grolloo started producing at a rate of 7.4 million cubic feet per day, the same initial production rate as Geesbrug.

But Geesbrug is 11 to 15 times the size of Grolloo and is likely to support the drilling of several production wells to efficiently drain the reservoir.  It carries a 2P reserve number of 137 billion cubic feet net to Northern, or 23.8 million barrels of oil equivalent.  The initial net production to Northern from the two gas fields will be 6.7 million cf/d, a rate that is set to rise as reservoir pressure data comes in and the company draws up additional development plans, including...
