Gasol Plc Keeping The Right Company As It Pursues West Africa Gas Dream



AIM-quoted Gasol plc has set itself a fairly difficult task in commercialising opportunities arising from Africa’s emerging gas sector. Though North Africa is now firmly established as one of Europe’s leading natural gas suppliers, it is West Africa that forms the focus of the UK-based company’s strategy.

There is little to worry about in terms of reserves with plenty of gas located in and around the prolific Gulf of Guinea zone. The issue is whether Gasol can stand the test of time and successfully negotiate all the nuances, commercial and political, of this territory.

The region’s biggest producer, Nigeria, certainly has the reserves, but with it come a whole host of problems. Militant and criminal activity in recent weeks has threatened LNG exports from the flagship Bonny Island...
